一"New National Pension Act" means the National Pension Act as amended by Article 1;

二"Former National Pension Act" means the National Pension Act prior to amendment by Article 1;

三"new Employees' Pension Insurance Act" means the Employees' Pension Insurance Act as amended by Article 3;

四"Former Employees' Pension Insurance Act" means the Employees' Pension Insurance Act prior to amendment by Article 3;

五"new Mariners Insurance Act" means the Mariners Insurance Act as amended by Article 5;

六"former Mariners Insurance Act" means the Mariners Insurance Act prior to amendment by Article 5;

七"former Pension Aggregation General Rules Act" means the Act on General Rules for Aggregated Pensions prior to its repeal pursuant to the provisions of Article 2, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions;

八"former Coordination Act" means the Act on Coordination between Employees' Pension Insurance and Mariners Insurance prior to its repeal pursuant to the provisions of Article 2, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions;

九"premium-paid period", "premium exemption period", "the government and implementing bodies", "mutual aid associations, etc. as implementing bodies", "category 1 insured person", "category 2 insured person" or "credited period" means, respectively, the premium-paid period, premium exemption period, the government and implementing bodies, mutual aid associations, etc. as implementing bodies, category 1 insured person, category 2 insured person or credited period prescribed in Article 5, paragraph (1), paragraph (2), paragraph (8) or paragraph (9) or Article 7, paragraph (1), item (i) or item (ii) of the National Pension Act, or in Article 9, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions of that Act;

十"class 1 insured person" means a male insured person under the Employees' Pension Insurance Act (limited to a category 1 employees' pension insured person prescribed in Article 2-5, paragraph (1), item (i) of that Act (hereinafter referred to as a "category 1 employees' pension insured person")) other than a class 3 insured person, a class 4 insured person and a voluntarily continued mariner insured person;

十一"class 2 insured person" means a female insured person under the Employees' Pension Insurance Act (limited to a category 1 employees' pension insured person) other than a class 3 insured person, a class 4 insured person and a voluntarily continued mariner insured person;

十二"class 3 insured person" means an insured person under the Employees' Pension Insurance Act (limited to a category 1 employees' pension insured person) who is employed at a workplace of a business prescribed in Article 4 of the Mining Act (Act No. 289 of 1950) and is regularly engaged in underground work, or an insured person under that Act (limited to a category 1 employees' pension insured person) who is employed, as a mariner prescribed in Article 1 of the Mariners Act (Act No. 100 of 1947), on a vessel prescribed in Article 6, paragraph (1), item (iii) of the Employees' Pension Insurance Act, other than a class 4 insured person and a voluntarily continued mariner insured person;

十三"class 4 insured person" means a person who has become an insured person under the Employees' Pension Insurance Act pursuant to the provisions of Article 15, paragraph (1) of the Former Employees' Pension Insurance Act that remain in force pursuant to the provisions of Article 43, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions, and a person who has become an insured person under that Act pursuant to the provisions of Article 43, paragraph (2) or paragraph (5) of the Supplementary Provisions;

十四"voluntarily continued mariner insured person" means a person who has become an insured person under the Employees' Pension Insurance Act pursuant to the provisions of Article 44, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions;

十五"period for aggregation" means the period for aggregation prescribed in the former Pension Aggregation General Rules Act, and periods included in that period for aggregation and periods deemed to be that period for aggregation pursuant to the provisions of laws and regulations;

十六"price index" means the national consumer price index prepared by the Management and Coordination Agency or the national consumer price index prepared by the Prime Minister's Office;

十七"old-age basic pension", "disability basic pension" or "survivors' basic pension" means, respectively, the old-age basic pension, disability basic pension or survivors' basic pension under the National Pension Act;

十八"old-age employees' pension", "disability employees' pension" or "survivors' employees' pension" means, respectively, the old-age employees' pension, disability employees' pension or survivors' employees' pension under the Employees' Pension Insurance Act;

十九"retirement mutual aid pension", "disability mutual aid pension" or "survivors' mutual aid pension" means, respectively, the retirement mutual aid pension, disability mutual aid pension or survivors' mutual aid pension under the provisions concerning long-term benefits of the National Public Officers Mutual Aid Association Act (Act No. 128 of 1958) prior to amendment by Article 2 of the Act Partially Amending the Employees' Pension Insurance Act, etc. to Unify, etc. the Employees' Pension Systems (Act No. 63 of 2012; hereinafter referred to as the "2012 Pension Unification Act") and other provisions of Acts that remain in force pursuant to the provisions of Article 37, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions of the 2012 Pension Unification Act, under the provisions concerning long-term benefits of the Local Public Officers, etc. Mutual Aid Association Act (Act No. 152 of 1962) prior to amendment by Article 3 of the 2012 Pension Unification Act and other provisions of Acts that remain in force pursuant to the provisions of Article 61, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions of the 2012 Pension Unification Act, or under the provisions concerning long-term benefits of the Private School Personnel Mutual Aid Association Act (Act No. 245 of 1953) prior to amendment by Article 4 of the 2012 Pension Unification Act and other provisions of Acts that remain in force pursuant to the provisions of Article 79 of the Supplementary Provisions of the 2012 Pension Unification Act.
