Supplementary Provisions, Article 9-4-10Special Provisions on Payment of the Additional Premium Relating to a Specified Reason
第九条の四の十（特定事由に係る付加保険料の納付の特例）
An insured person or a person who was an insured person may, when having a period falling under any of the following items (excluding a premium-paid period relating to the additional premium; referred to in paragraph (3) as the "period eligible for additional premiums"), make a request to that effect to the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare.
A period found to be one during which the person became unable to pay the additional premium due to a specified reason; or
A period deemed to be a specified additional premium payment period under the provisions of Article 9-4-7, paragraph (5) of the Supplementary Provisions.
附則第九条の四の七第五項の規定により特定付加納付期間とみなされた期間
The Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare is, when finding that the request under the preceding paragraph (limited to one relating to item (i) of that paragraph) is well-founded, or when there has been a request under that paragraph (limited to one relating to item (ii) of that paragraph), to approve that request.
A person who made the request under paragraph (1) may, when having received approval under the provisions of the preceding paragraph, pay, for each month of the period eligible for additional premiums to which that approval relates, the premium in the amount equivalent to the additional premium for each such month (referred to in the following paragraph and paragraph (6) as the "special additional premium").
Payment of the special additional premium under the provisions of the preceding paragraph may be made only for a month for which payment of the premium has been made.
The provisions of paragraph (5) through paragraph (7) of the preceding Article apply mutatis mutandis to the case referred to in paragraph (3).
前条第五項から第七項までの規定は、第三項の場合に準用する。
For the purpose of applying the provisions of Article 43 in a case where a person entitled to receive an old-age basic pension (excluding a person who has a premium-paid period relating to the additional premium) has made payment of the special additional premium under the provisions of paragraph (3), the phrase "acquired the right to receive an old-age basic pension" in that Article is deemed to be replaced with "made the request under the provisions of Article 9-4-10, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions".
The provisions of Article 9-4-7, paragraphs (9) and (10) of the Supplementary Provisions apply mutatis mutandis to approval under the provisions of paragraph (2).
附則第九条の四の七第九項及び第十項の規定は、第二項の規定による承認について準用する。
Beyond what is provided for in the preceding paragraphs, the procedure for the request under paragraph (1) and any other matters necessary concerning the application of the provisions of the preceding paragraphs are specified by Cabinet Order.
