The effective date of this Act is specified by Imperial Order.

A place of business that regularly employs fewer than five employees and that was a place of business prescribed in Article 13, item (i) or (ii) of the former Health Insurance Act, or that was a place of business under the provisions of Article 16 of the former Employees' Pension Insurance Act by reason of having been such a place of business, is deemed to have obtained, on the day this Act comes into effect, the approval under Article 14 of the Health Insurance Act or Article 16-2 of the Employees' Pension Insurance Act; provided, however, that this does not apply if, within one month from the day this Act comes into effect, a notification to the effect that eligibility is to be lost for all insured persons is submitted to the administrative agency.

With regard to insurance benefits under the Health Insurance Act for sickness or injury due to work-related causes before the day this Act comes into effect and for sickness arising therefrom, the provisions then in force continue to govern.
