第一条（施行期日）
This Act comes into effect as of the day on which the Act on Preparation of Relevant Financial Acts Accompanying Cancellation of Prohibition of Establishment of Holding Companies and Other Matters (Act No. 120 of 1997) comes into effect.
この法律は、持株会社の設立等の禁止の解除に伴う金融関係法律の整備等に関する法律（平成九年法律第百二十号）の施行の日から施行する。

「持株会社」
A holding company as defined in Article 29-4, paragraph (3): a company for which the total acquisition value (or the value given on its latest balance sheet) of the shares or equity interests (持分) it holds in its domestic subsidiary companies (子会社) exceeds 50% of its total assets, calculated as a Cabinet Office Order (内閣府令) sets, less the assets a Cabinet Office Order specifies.
