Supplementary Provisions, Article 1Effective Date
第一条（施行期日）
This Act comes into effect on January 1, 2004; provided, however, that the provisions set forth in the following items come into effect on the dates specified in the relevant items.
この法律は、平成十六年一月一日から施行する。ただし、次の各号に掲げる規定は、それぞれ当該各号に定める日から施行する。

第二十六条（住民基本台帳法の一部改正に伴う経過措置）
During the period from the day on which the provisions of the preceding Article come into effect until December 31, 2011, the term "administration of the bar examination" in row 30 of Appended Table 1 of the Residential Basic Book Act as amended by the provisions of that Article is deemed to be replaced with "administration of the bar examination, or administration of the second-stage bar examination conducted under Article 7, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions of the Act Partially Amending the Bar Examination Act and the Court Act (Act No. 138 of 2002)".
前条の規定の施行の日から平成二十三年十二月三十一日までの間においては、同条の規定による改正後の住民基本台帳法別表第一の三十の項中「司法試験の実施」とあるのは、「司法試験の実施又は司法試験法及び裁判所法の一部を改正する法律（平成十四年法律第百三十八号）附則第七条第一項の規定により行われる司法試験の第二次試験の実施」とする。
