Supplementary Provisions, Article 3Preparatory Actions Concerning Certificates of Eligibility

If an application is filed in advance by a foreign national (meaning a foreign national prescribed in Article 2, item (i) of the Immigration Control Act; the same applies hereinafter) who seeks to land in Japan on or after the Effective Date of this Act (hereinafter referred to as the "Effective Date") and who seeks to engage in the activities set forth in item (ii) of the right-hand column corresponding to "Intra-company Transferee" in Appended Table I (2) of the New Immigration Control Act, the Minister of Justice may, pursuant to the provisions of Ministry of Justice Order, issue to that foreign national, before the Effective Date, a certificate of eligibility (meaning a certificate of eligibility prescribed in Article 7-2, paragraph (1) of the Immigration Control Act; the same applies in Article 8, paragraph (3) of the Supplementary Provisions) for the status of residence of "Intra-company Transferee" in the same Table (limited to the status pertaining to item (ii) of the right-hand column corresponding to "Intra-company Transferee" in the same Table).
