The provisions of Article 19-9 of the New Immigration Control Act do not apply to the mid- to long-term residents prescribed in Article 17, paragraph (1) and Article 18, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions (excluding a person who has filed a notification pursuant to the provisions of Article 17, paragraph (1) or Article 18, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions with regard to their place of residence (meaning the location of their principal residence in Japan; the same applies hereinafter)).
