Supplementary Provisions, Article 2Principle of Transitional Measures Accompanying the Partial Amendment of the Civil Code
第二条（民法の一部改正に伴う経過措置の原則）
The provisions of the Civil Code as amended by the provisions of Article 1 (hereinafter referred to as the "New Civil Code") also apply to matters that arose before the enforcement of this Act, except where there are special provisions in these Supplementary Provisions; provided, however, that this does not prevent the effect that arose under the provisions of the Civil Code prior to the amendment by the provisions of that Article (referred to as the "Former Civil Code" in Article 6 of the Supplementary Provisions).
第一条の規定による改正後の民法（以下「新民法」という。）の規定は、この附則に特別の定めがある場合を除き、この法律の施行前に生じた事項にも適用する。ただし、同条の規定による改正前の民法（附則第六条において「旧民法」という。）の規定により生じた効力を妨げない。
