This Act comes into effect as of the date specified by Cabinet Order within a period not exceeding one year and six months from the date of promulgation.

①The provisions of the Lost Property Act after the amendment and the provisions of Article 240 of the Civil Code after the amendment under the provisions of the following Article also apply to property of which a finding was made before this Act comes into effect, and to property for which the custodian prescribed in Article 10, paragraph (2) of the Lost Property Act before the amendment (hereinafter referred to as the "Former Act") has received delivery under that paragraph or for which the possessor prescribed in that paragraph has received submission under that paragraph, that has not actually been submitted to the chief of a police station at the time of enforcement of this Act under Article 1, paragraph (1) or Article 11, paragraph (1) of the Former Act (including the case where these provisions apply mutatis mutandis pursuant to Articles 12 and 13 of the Former Act; the same applies in the following paragraph).

②With respect to property that has actually been submitted to the chief of a police station at the time of enforcement of this Act under Article 1, paragraph (1) or Article 11, paragraph (1) of the Former Act, the provisions then in force continue to govern.
