Supplementary Provisions, Article 23-5Special Provisions on the Treatment of Retirement of the Head of a Local Government
第二十三条の五（地方公共団体の長の退職の取扱いに関する特例）
If an insured who is a prefectural governor or a mayor of a municipality (including the head of a special ward (limited to the head of a special ward elected pursuant to the provisions of Article 283, paragraph (1) of the Local Autonomy Act)) falls under any of the following items, the preceding and subsequent category III EPI insured periods are deemed to be continuous:
都道府県知事又は市町村長（特別区の区長（地方自治法第二百八十三条第一項の規定により選挙された特別区の区長に限る。）を含む。）である被保険者が、次の各号のいずれかに該当する場合においては、前後の第三号厚生年金被保険者期間は引き続いたものとみなす。
if the person retires before the day on which the term of office is to expire, after the notice of the date of an election due to the expiration of the term of office has been given, and is elected in that election due to the expiration of the term of office and again becomes the head of a local government;
任期満了による選挙の期日の告示がなされた後、その任期の満了すべき日前に退職した場合において、当該任期満了による選挙において当選人となり、再び地方公共団体の長となつたとき。
if the person is elected in an election notified as a result of the person's having filed a statement of retirement, and again becomes the head of a local government.
退職の申立てを行つたことにより告示された選挙において当選人となり、再び地方公共団体の長となつたとき。
