Supplementary Provisions

①This Act comes into effect as of the day specified by Cabinet Order within a period not exceeding six months from the date of promulgation; provided, however, that the amending provisions of Article 5-2, paragraph (1) (limited to the portion deleting "in this paragraph and Article 31-2") and the amending provisions of Article 9-2 come into effect as of the day on which 20 days have elapsed from the date of promulgation.

②With regard to adult criminal cases in which prosecution was instituted pursuant to the provisions of Article 37, paragraph (1) of the Juveniles Act prior to its amendment by this Act before the day on which this Act comes into effect, the provisions then in force continue to govern, notwithstanding the provisions of the Juveniles Act, the Courts Act (Act No. 59 of 1947), and the Code of Criminal Procedure (Act No. 131 of 1948) as amended by this Act; the same applies to adult criminal cases over which a family court has authority pursuant to the provisions of Article 26, paragraph (4) of the Act on Special Measures Incidental to Reversion of Okinawa (Act No. 129 of 1971).

③If three years have elapsed after this Act comes into effect, the government is to examine the status of enforcement of the provisions on observation of trial and decision by victims, etc. and other provisions as amended by this Act, and if it finds it necessary, take the necessary measures based on the results.
