Supplementary Provisions, Article 4Transitional Measures Concerning Regulation of Apparatus and Containers and Packages
第四条（器具及び容器包装の規制に関する経過措置）
With regard to apparatus (meaning apparatus as defined in Article 4, paragraph (4) of the Food Sanitation Act) and containers and packages (meaning containers and packages as defined in Article 4, paragraph (5) of that Act) that, at the time this Act comes into effect, are actually being sold, produced or imported for use in sale, or used in business (meaning business as defined in Article 4, paragraph (7) of that Act), the provisions of Article 18, paragraph (3) and Article 50-4 of the New Food Sanitation Act (on or after the day on which the provisions of Article 2 come into effect (hereinafter referred to as the "item (iii) Effective Date"), Article 53 of the Food Sanitation Act as amended by the provisions of Article 2 (hereinafter referred to as the "item (iii) New Food Sanitation Act")) do not apply.
この法律の施行の際現に販売され、販売の用に供するために製造され、若しくは輸入され、又は営業（食品衛生法第四条第七項に規定する営業をいう。）上使用されている器具（同条第四項に規定する器具をいう。）及び容器包装（同条第五項に規定する容器包装をいう。）については、新食品衛生法第十八条第三項及び第五十条の四（第二条の規定の施行の日（以下「第三号施行日」という。）以後にあっては、同条の規定による改正後の食品衛生法（以下「第三号新食品衛生法」という。）第五十三条）の規定は、適用しない。

Tableware, kitchen utensils and other machines, equipment and articles that are used in collecting, producing, processing, cooking, storing, transporting, displaying, handing over or consuming food or additives and that touch the food or additives directly; those used to harvest food in farming and fisheries are not included.

Anything that holds or wraps food or additives and is handed over with them, as it is, when the food or additives change hands.
