第四条（食品衛生法の一部改正に伴う経過措置）
The provisions of Article 56 of the Food Sanitation Act as amended by the provisions of Article 2 (hereinafter in this Article referred to as the "New Food Sanitation Act") (including as applied mutatis mutandis pursuant to Article 57, paragraph (2) of the New Food Sanitation Act (including as applied mutatis mutandis pursuant to Article 68, paragraphs (1) and (3) of the New Food Sanitation Act) and Article 68, paragraph (1) of the New Food Sanitation Act) do not apply to a person who has taken over business (meaning business prescribed in Article 4, paragraph (7) of the Food Sanitation Act (including the case prescribed in Article 68, paragraph (3) of the New Food Sanitation Act); referred to simply as "business" in the following paragraph) in the case where that business was transferred before the Effective Date.
第二条の規定による改正後の食品衛生法（以下この条において「新食品衛生法」という。）第五十六条（新食品衛生法第五十七条第二項（新食品衛生法第六十八条第一項及び第三項において準用する場合を含む。）及び第六十八条第一項において準用する場合を含む。）の規定は、施行日前に食品衛生法第四条第七項に規定する営業（新食品衛生法第六十八条第三項に規定する場合を含む。次項において単に「営業」という。）の譲渡があった場合における当該営業を譲り受けた者については、適用しない。
A prefectural governor must, for the time being, investigate at least once the status of operations of a person who has succeeded to the position of an approved business operator or a notifying business operator pursuant to the provisions of Article 56, paragraph (1) of the New Food Sanitation Act (including as applied mutatis mutandis pursuant to Article 57, paragraph (2) of the New Food Sanitation Act (including as applied mutatis mutandis pursuant to Article 68, paragraphs (1) and (3) of the New Food Sanitation Act) and Article 68, paragraph (1) of the New Food Sanitation Act) (limited to a person who has succeeded to that position by transfer of business), during the period until six months elapse counting from the day on which that position was succeeded to.
都道府県知事は、当分の間、新食品衛生法第五十六条第一項（新食品衛生法第五十七条第二項（新食品衛生法第六十八条第一項及び第三項において準用する場合を含む。）及び第六十八条第一項において準用する場合を含む。）の規定により許可営業者又は届出営業者の地位を承継した者（営業の譲渡により当該地位を承継した者に限る。）の業務の状況について、当該地位が承継された日から起算して六月を経過するまでの間において、少なくとも一回調査しなければならない。

In Article 4, paragraph (2) of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 52 of 2023, a business (営業) as defined in Article 4, paragraph (7) of the Food Sanitation Act, including the continuous provision of food to many or unspecified people at a school, hospital or other facility that Article 68, paragraph (3) of the Food Sanitation Act, as Act No. 52 of 2023 amended it, treats in the same way.
