No person may, with regard to a motor vehicle for which a valid motor vehicle inspection certificate has been issued pursuant to Article 58, paragraph (1) or a light motor vehicle exempt from inspection for which notification of use has been made pursuant to Article 97-3, paragraph (1) (hereinafter referred to as a "motor vehicle issued with a motor vehicle inspection certificate, etc."), carry out any modification of the motor vehicle or a part thereof, attachment or removal of equipment, or other similar act that would cause the motor vehicle to fail to conform to the safety standards.
何人も、第五十八条第一項の規定により有効な自動車検査証の交付を受けている自動車又は第九十七条の三第一項の規定により使用の届出を行つている検査対象外軽自動車（以下「自動車検査証交付済自動車等」という。）について、自動車又はその部分の改造、装置の取付け又は取り外しその他これらに類する行為であつて、当該自動車が保安基準に適合しないこととなるものを行つてはならない。
