第九条
The scope of kana and symbols that may be used as the characters indicating the reading of the characters used in a former surname is the scope of kana and symbols specified by Ministry of Justice Order under Article 13, paragraph (3) of the Family Register Act (Act No. 224 of 1947) as amended by Article 7 of the Amending Act.
旧氏に用いられる文字の読み方を示す文字に用いることができる仮名及び記号の範囲は、改正法第七条の規定による改正後の戸籍法（昭和二十二年法律第二百二十四号）第十三条第三項の法務省令で定められた仮名及び記号の範囲とする。
