Supplementary Provisions, Article 3

第三条

A person who, at the time this Act comes into effect, has established a hospital having obtained the permission under Article 7, paragraph (1) of the Former Medical Care Act (excluding a person who has former other beds) is deemed to have obtained, for those hospital beds of the hospital established by that person that are psychiatric hospital beds, infectious disease hospital beds or tuberculosis hospital beds prescribed in paragraph (2) of that Article, the permission under paragraph (2) of that Article as psychiatric hospital beds, infectious disease hospital beds or tuberculosis hospital beds prescribed in Article 7, paragraph (2), items (i) through (iii) of the New Medical Care Act, respectively.

この法律の施行の際現に旧医療法第七条第一項の許可を受けて病院を開設している者（旧その他の病床を有する者を除く。）は、当該者が開設する病院の病床であって同条第二項に規定する精神病床、感染症病床又は結核病床であるものについて、それぞれ新医療法第七条第二項第一号から第三号までに規定する精神病床、感染症病床又は結核病床として同条第二項の許可を受けたものとみなす。

hospital
病院（びょういん）
A place where a doctor or dentist practises medicine or dentistry for the public or for a particular group of many people and which has facilities for admitting 20 or more inpatients, as Article 1-5, paragraph (1) defines it.

A hospital bed for admitting people with mental disorders.

infectious disease hospital bed
感染症病床（かんせんしょうびょうしょう）
A hospital bed for admitting patients with Class I or Class II infectious diseases (other than tuberculosis), novel influenza and similar infectious diseases, or certain designated infectious diseases, as defined in the Act on the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Medical Care for Patients with Infectious Diseases (including people treated as such patients), and people showing signs of a new infectious disease.

former other bed
旧その他の病床（きゅうそのたのびょうしょう）
In the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 141 of 2000, the beds that Article 7, paragraph (2) of the Medical Care Act, as it stood before Article 1 of that Act amended it, called other beds (その他の病床), for which a person running a hospital with such beds had to notify, within two years and six months after that Act came into effect, the number of beds of each kind in Article 7, paragraph (2), item (iv) or (v) of the Medical Care Act as that Act amended it.
