Where a motor vehicle falls under any of the following items, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism may order its owner to have the chassis number or motor model stamped or to have the stamping obliterated, or may personally obliterate the stamping of the chassis number or motor model or stamp it:
国土交通大臣は、自動車が左の各号の一に該当するときは、その所有者に対し、車台番号若しくは原動機の型式の打刻を受け、若しくはその打刻を塗まつすべきことを命じ、又は自ら車台番号若しくは原動機の型式の打刻を塗まつし、若しくは打刻をすることができる。
where it has no stamping of the chassis number or motor model;
車台番号又は原動機の型式の打刻を有しないとき。
where the stamping of the chassis number or motor model of the motor vehicle is similar to the stamping of the chassis number or motor model of another motor vehicle; or
当該自動車の車台番号又は原動機の型式の打刻が他の自動車の車台番号又は原動機の型式の打刻と類似のものであるとき。
where the stamping of the chassis number or motor model of the motor vehicle is difficult to identify.
当該自動車の車台番号又は原動機の型式の打刻が識別困難なものであるとき。
