If a witness fails to appear without a legitimate reason, the witness is sentenced to a criminal fine of not more than 100,000 yen or misdemeanor imprisonment without work.
証人が正当な理由なく出頭しないときは、十万円以下の罰金又は拘留に処する。
Both a criminal fine and misdemeanor imprisonment without work may be imposed cumulatively on a person who has committed the crime referred to in the preceding paragraph, depending on the circumstances.
前項の罪を犯した者には、情状により、罰金及び拘留を併科することができる。
