新公職選挙法（しんこうしょくせんきょほう）

In Article 2 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 94 of 2016, the Public Offices Election Act as amended by Article 1 of that Act.

第三号施行日（だいさんごうしこうび）

The date the provisions listed in Article 1, item (iii) of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 48 of 2023 come into effect — among them its amendments to Articles 7, 17 and 30-45 of this Act — a date set by Cabinet Order (政令) within two years of that Act's promulgation (公布, its official publication).

第一号施行日（だいいちごうしこうび）

In the supplementary provisions (附則) of Cabinet Order No. 253 of 2010, the date set out in Article 1, item (i) of those supplementary provisions: the day Act No. 79 of 2009, which amended the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act and the Special Act on the Immigration Control of, inter alia, those who have lost Japanese Nationality pursuant to the Treaty of Peace with Japan, comes into effect.

Short name for the Act Partially Amending the Family Register Act (Act No. 17 of 2019).

民法等改正法（みんぽうとうかいせいほう）

Short name for the Act Partially Amending the Civil Code, etc. (Act No. 45 of 2026).

第四号施行日（だいよんごうしこうび）

The date the provisions listed in Article 1, item (iv) of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 31 of 2026 come into effect — among them its amendments to Articles 63 and 86 of this Act — a date a Cabinet Order (政令) sets within one year of that Act's promulgation (公布, its official publication) on 5 June 2026.

通則法改正法（つうそくほうかいせいほう）

Short name, in the supplementary provisions of Act No. 67 of 2014, for the 2014 Act amending the Act on General Rules for Incorporated Administrative Agencies (Act No. 66 of 2014), on whose effective date Act No. 67 of 2014 comes into effect.

処分等の行為（しょぶんとうのこうい）

In the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 87 of 1999, a permission or other disposition (処分), or another act, done under a law's provisions. Article 160 treats such an act done under the laws as they stood before that Act came into effect, where the official who is to handle the matter changes on the day that Act comes into effect, as done under the corresponding provisions of the laws as that Act amended them, except as Articles 2 to 159 of its supplementary provisions or the transitional provisions of the amended laws, including orders made under them, provide otherwise.

旧労災保険法（きゅうろうさいほけんほう）

In Article 116 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of the Act Partially Amending the National Pension Act, etc. (Act No. 34 of 1985), this Act as it stood before Article 115 of those supplementary provisions amended it.

The Act on Special Measures Concerning Taxation as amended by Article 16 of the 2020 amending law (Act No. 8 of 2020), which that law's supplementary provisions apply to corporations' business years starting on or after 1 April 2022.

四年旧措置法（よねんきゅうそちほう）

The Act on Special Measures Concerning Taxation as it stood before Article 16 of the 2020 amending law (Act No. 8 of 2020) amended it, which stays in force for corporation tax and local corporation tax for periods that began before 1 April 2022.
