A worker employed by two or more businesses whose employers are not the same person; from Article 7(1)(ii) on, the term also covers persons similar to them that a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Order (厚生労働省令) specifies.

Travel a worker makes in connection with work, by a reasonable route and means, between home and the place of work, from one place of work to another as a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Order (厚生労働省令) specifies, or between residences before or after the trip between home and work where that Order's conditions are met, other than travel that is itself part of the job; after a detour or break the travel no longer counts, unless the detour or break is the minimum needed for an everyday necessity that Order lists, in which case travel counts again once it is over (Article 7(2) and (3)).

複数業務要因災害
An injury, illness, disability or death of a multiple-job worker (複数事業労働者), including a person similar to one that a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Order (厚生労働省令) specifies, caused by the work of two or more of their businesses.
The Act as it stood before the amendment these supplementary provisions deal with.
This Act as it stood before Article 3 of Act No. 130 of 1965 amended it.

In Article 8-2(1)(ii), the average monthly salary per worker, worked out as a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Order (厚生労働省令) provides from the regularly paid monthly salaries in the Monthly Labour Survey (毎月勤労統計) of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and compared quarter by quarter to decide whether the basic daily payment amount for loss of salary during a temporary absence from work (休業給付基礎日額) is revised.

In Article 8-3, the basic daily payment amount (給付基礎日額) used to calculate pension-type insurance benefits: the amount worked out under Article 8, and, for pensions paid from August of the second fiscal year after the one in which the accident happened or the illness was diagnosed, that amount multiplied by a rate the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare sets from the change in average salaries (平均給与額).

In Article 14(1), the maximum basic daily payment amount the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare sets for the worker's age group under Article 8-2(2)(ii), where that amount is used as the worker's basic daily payment amount (給付基礎日額).
Short name for Act No. 143 of 1958, the Act on temporary measures for the treatment of silicosis (けい肺) and traumatic spinal cord injury (外傷性せき髄障害), used in the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 29 of 1960.
平均給与額
In Article 16(1) of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 29 of 1960, the average salary per worker across all industries in the Monthly Labour Survey (毎月勤労統計) prepared by the Ministry of Labour (労働省); the benefits that paragraph names are revised when it rises above 120% or falls below 80% of its level in the year of the injury or illness.
In Article 2 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 115 of 1974, 1 November 1974, the date before which periods of pension are paid under the earlier rules.
In Article 2 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of the Act that coins it, a lump sum compensation payment for surviving family (遺族補償一時金) or lump-sum payment for surviving family (遺族一時金) that becomes payable in the case in Article 16-6(1)(ii): when the right of the last survivor entitled to the pension ends and the pensions paid for the worker's death fall short of the lump sum that would have been paid had no survivor been entitled.
In Article 2 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of the Act that coins it, a lump sum compensation payment for surviving family (遺族補償一時金) or lump-sum payment for surviving family (遺族一時金) that becomes payable in the case in Article 16-6(1)(ii): when the right of the last survivor entitled to the pension ends and the pensions paid for the worker's death fall short of the lump sum that would have been paid had no survivor been entitled.

A facility, as defined in Article 5(11) of the Act on Providing Comprehensive Support for the Daily Life and Life in Society of Persons with Disabilities, that gives persons with disabilities residential support (施設入所支援) together with other facility-based disability welfare services (施設障害福祉サービス), other than Nozomi-no-Sono (のぞみの園) and the facilities a Ministerial Order (主務省令) under paragraph (1) of that Article specifies.
The dispatch of mariners, as defined in Article 6(13) of the Mariners' Employment Security Act: a shipowner having mariners it regularly employs work as mariners for another person, under that person's direction, while they stay in the shipowner's employment, not counting an arrangement in which the shipowner agrees to have the other person employ them.
In Article 64 of the supplementary provisions (附則), any of the advance lump-sum payments (前払一時金) of the disability compensation pension (障害補償年金), the compensation pension for surviving family (遺族補償年金), the disability pension for multiple-job workers (複数事業労働者障害年金), the pension for surviving family of multiple-job workers (複数事業労働者遺族年金), the disability pension (障害年金) and the pension for surviving family (遺族年金).
The Employees' Pension Insurance Act as it stood before Article 3 of the Act partially amending the National Pension Act and other Acts (Act No. 34 of 1985) amended it.
In Articles 53-2 to 53-4 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of the Act Partially Amending the Employment Insurance Act, etc. (Act No. 30 of 2007), the date on which the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare changed the employment insurance rate (雇用保険率) under Article 53-2(1), a change made before 50 days had passed from the start of the insurance year beginning 1 April 2007.
In Article 117 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of the Act Partially Amending the Employees' Pension Insurance Act, etc. to Unify, etc. the Employees' Pension Systems (Act No. 63 of 2012), this Act as amended by Article 115 of those supplementary provisions.

In Article 8-2(2), the first day of the quarter (四半期) in which the reason arose to pay a compensation payment for loss of salary during a temporary absence from work, etc. (休業補償給付等); the worker's age on that day decides which age group's minimum and maximum apply.

In Article 8-2, the age groups a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Order (厚生労働省令) sets, for each of which the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare fixes a minimum and a maximum basic daily payment amount for loss of salary during a temporary absence from work (休業給付基礎日額).
Care as defined in Article 5(7) of the Act on Providing Comprehensive Support for the Daily Life and Life in Society of Persons with Disabilities: help with bathing, toileting or eating, opportunities for creative or productive activities, and other services a Ministerial Order (主務省令) specifies, given mainly in the daytime at a facility designed to support persons with disabilities (障害者支援施設) or another facility such an Order specifies, to persons with disabilities who need constant care and whom such an Order specifies.
派遣先の事業主
An employer (事業主) to whose business a worker employed by another employer has been dispatched to do assigned work (派遣就業), and who does not employ that worker, as defined in Article 44(1) of the Act on Ensuring the Proper Operation of Worker Dispatching Services and Protecting Dispatched Workers.

In Articles 47 and 53, a third party who caused the accident that gave rise to an insurance benefit, other than a client entity (派遣先の事業主) or a person receiving the services of a dispatched mariner (船員派遣).

賃金月額
In Article 8-2(3), the amount of wages a worker receives per month, by which the workers of each age group are sorted into twenty bands when the minimum basic daily payment amount for loss of salary during a temporary absence from work is set.
In Article 12, an injury or illness from one and the same cause: in the course of the worker's duties, from the work of two or more businesses of a multiple-job worker (複数事業労働者), or from commuting.
In Article 12-2, the claim for repayment of a pension-type insurance benefit paid by mistake for the months after the month in which the person entitled to it died.
特定保健指導
Health guidance given in an interview by a doctor or public health nurse (保健師), based on the results of the follow-up medical examination (二次健康診断), to prevent cerebrovascular and heart disease; limited to once per follow-up examination.
被災労働者
In Article 29(1)(i) and (ii), a worker who has suffered an occupational accident (業務災害), a multiple-job-related accident (複数業務要因災害) or a commuting accident (通勤災害).
In Article 33, a business that employs no more workers than a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Order (厚生労働省令) specifies, other than businesses that Order excludes.
労働者派遣法
Short name, in Articles 46 and 48, for the Act on Ensuring the Proper Operation of Worker Dispatching Services and Protecting Dispatched Workers (Act No. 88 of 1985).
