旧機関（きゅうきかん）

A national government body listed in the middle column of the table in Article 2 of the supplementary provisions of Act No. 26 of 2008, such as the Aircraft and Railway Accidents Investigation Commission (航空・鉄道事故調査委員会), the Marine Accidents Inquiry Agency (海難審判庁) or the Central Mariners' Labor Relations Commission (船員中央労働委員会), whose approvals, designations and other acts made before that Act comes into effect count afterwards as made by the body the table puts in its place.

旧法令（きゅうほうれい）

The Acts (法律) amended by Act No. 26 of 2008, and the orders made under them, as they stood before that Act amended them.

最終月（さいしゅうげつ）

In Article 8, paragraph (3) of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 54 of 1984, the last month of the basis period (基礎期間) under Article 53, paragraph (1), item (ii) of a person who applied under that paragraph for the job applicant benefits for day workers (日雇労働求職者給付金).

基準日（きじゅんび）

In Article 4, paragraph (2) of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 57 of 1994, the day of separation from service (離職) on which a qualified recipient's recipient qualification (受給資格) is based.

改正法（かいせいほう）

Short name for the Act Partially Amending the Employment Insurance Act, etc. (Act No. 31 of 2003), used in the wording that the supplementary provisions (附則) of that Act substitute into provisions of this Act for cases that straddle its coming into effect.

In Article 47 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 47 of 2024, the reform roadmap toward building a social security system for all generations (全世代型社会保障構築を目指す改革の道筋) that the Cabinet decided on 22 December 2023.

特定作業（とくていさぎょう）

In table 4 of Appended Table 20, on who may teach the skill training courses for supervisors of excavation, tunnel, formwork shoring, scaffolding, steel frame, bridge and concrete demolition work, construction work — limited to tunnel construction for the two tunnel courses, including shipbuilding work for the scaffolding course, and limited to demolishing concrete structures for the concrete demolition course.

特定学科（とくていがっか）

In table 4 of Appended Table 20, on who may teach the skill training courses for supervisors of excavation, tunnel, formwork shoring, scaffolding, steel frame, bridge and concrete demolition work, a course of study in civil engineering, architecture or mining — without architecture for the two tunnel courses, and including shipbuilding for the scaffolding course.

特例認定（とくれいにんてい）

In Article 8 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 57 of 2017, a certification of a transition plan under Article 10-3, paragraph (1) of the supplementary provisions of Act No. 84 of 2006 that a medical corporation certified before the item (ii) Effective Date (第二号施行日前認定医療法人) receives under Article 8, paragraph (1), on which its earlier certification ceases to have effect.

基本月額（きほんげつがく）

In Article 11-2, paragraphs (1) and (2) of the supplementary provisions (附則), one twelfth of the amount under Article 9-2, paragraph (2), item (ii) of those supplementary provisions (the remuneration-based portion, 報酬比例部分の額) of an employees' old-age pension for persons with disabilities or long-term insured (障害者・長期加入者の老齢厚生年金).

旧健保法（きゅうけんぽほう）

Short name, in the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 109 of 1998, for the Health Insurance Act (Act No. 70 of 1922) as it stood before Article 4 of that Act amended it.

旧高確法（きゅうこうかくほう）

Short name, in Article 5, paragraphs (4) to (6) of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 31 of 2023, for the Act on Assurance of Medical Care for Elderly People (Act No. 80 of 1982) as it stood before Article 6 of Act No. 31 of 2023 amended it (leaving aside the amendments listed in Article 1, items (i), (iv) and (vi) of that Act's supplementary provisions).

In Article 47 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 47 of 2024, the reform roadmap toward building a social security system for all generations (全世代型社会保障構築を目指す改革の道筋) that the Cabinet decided on 22 December 2023.

The grade of disability under Article 30, paragraph (2): grade 1 or grade 2, from the more severe, with the state of disability for each set by Cabinet Order (政令).

In Article 10 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 2 of 2017, a single building as referred to in Article 73-2, paragraph 4 of the Local Tax Act as it stood before Article 1 of that Act amended it, including annexed buildings made common parts (共用部分) under Article 4, paragraph 2 of the Act on Building Unit Ownership.

適用期間（てきようきかん）

The period from the day the Act Partially Amending the Local Tax Act, etc. (Act No. 26 of 2020) came into effect to 31 March 2021; the fixed assets tax (固定資産税) on houses and structures that small and medium-sized businesses, etc. (中小事業者等) as defined in Article 64 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of the Local Tax Act as it stood before Article 1 of Act No. 7 of 2021 amended it acquired within it stays under the former rules.

七年新法（しちねんしんぽう）

The Local Tax Act as amended by Article 2 of Act No. 4 of 2024, which comes into effect on 1 April 2025.
