電気工事士法

A body that the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry designates, on its application, to carry out the work of running the electrician examination (電気工事士試験), which the Minister then no longer carries out (Article 7).
The work of running the electrician examination (電気工事士試験), which the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry can have a designated examination body (指定試験機関) carry out (Article 7, paragraph (1)).

Work to install or alter electric facilities for general use, etc. (一般用電気工作物等) or electric facilities for private use (自家用電気工作物), other than minor work a Cabinet Order (政令) sets.

電気工事士
A Class 1 electrician (第一種電気工事士) or a Class 2 electrician (第二種電気工事士), as Article 3, paragraphs (1) and (2) define them: a person who has been issued an electrician license (電気工事士免状) of the class concerned.
次条第一項に規定する第一種電気工事士及び同条第二項に規定する第二種電気工事士
Electric facilities for private use as Article 38, paragraph (4) of the Electricity Business Act defines them — electric facilities (電気工作物) other than electric facilities for general use (一般用電気工作物) and those used for the electricity businesses that paragraph lists, such as transmission and distribution — leaving out small-scale electric facilities for business use (小規模事業用電気工作物), power stations, substations, demand facilities (需要設備, all the electric facilities installed on the premises where the electricity is used) with a maximum power of 500 kilowatts or more, and other facilities a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Order (経済産業省令) sets.

特種電気工事資格者
A person who has been issued a qualified special electrical worker certificate (特種電気工事資格者認定証) for a given kind of special electrical work (特殊電気工事), and so may take part in that work on electric facilities for private use (自家用電気工作物).
認定電気工事従事者
A person who has been issued a certified electrical worker certificate (認定電気工事従事者認定証), and so may take part in simple electrical work (簡易電気工事) on electric facilities for private use (自家用電気工作物) without being a Class 1 electrician (第一種電気工事士).
The rules on running the electrician examination (電気工事士試験) that a designated examination body (指定試験機関) must set and have approved by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and have approved again whenever it changes them.
試験員
An electrician examiner (電気工事士試験員), whom a designated examination body (指定試験機関) running the electrician examination must have do the work of judging whether candidates have the knowledge and skills an electrician (電気工事士) needs, chosen from people who meet requirements a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Order (経済産業省令) sets.
旧電気工事士法
This Act as it stood before Article 1 of Act No. 84 of 1987 amended it.
Electric facilities for general use (一般用電気工作物) and small-scale electric facilities for business use (小規模事業用電気工作物) taken together, both as Article 38 of the Electricity Business Act defines them, in paragraphs (1) and (3).
一般用電気工作物（電気事業法（昭和三十九年法律第百七十号）第三十八条第一項に規定する一般用電気工作物をいう。以下同じ。）及び小規模事業用電気工作物（同条第三項に規定する小規模事業用電気工作物をいう。以下同じ。）
第一種電気工事士
A person who has been issued a Class 1 electrician license (第一種電気工事士免状); under Article 3, paragraph (1), only such a person may take part in electrical work (電気工事) on electric facilities for private use (自家用電気工作物), other than special electrical work (特殊電気工事) and tasks a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Order (経済産業省令) exempts as posing no safety problem, though paragraph (4) also lets a certified electrical worker (認定電気工事従事者) do simple electrical work (簡易電気工事).
第二種電気工事士
A person who has been issued a Class 2 electrician license (第二種電気工事士免状); under Article 3, paragraph (2), only a Class 1 electrician (第一種電気工事士) or a Class 2 electrician may take part in electrical work (電気工事) on electric facilities for general use, etc. (一般用電気工作物等), other than tasks a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Order (経済産業省令) exempts as posing no safety problem.
Small-scale electric facilities for business use as Article 38, paragraph (3) of the Electricity Business Act defines them: small low-voltage generating equipment installed on one premises whose output is at or above the level below which it would count as electric facilities for general use (一般用電気工作物), connected to equipment off the premises, if at all, only through a low-voltage incoming line, and equipment a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Order (経済産業省令) treats as like it — other than equipment on the same premises as larger generating equipment, or in a place that Order names as at risk of accidents from explosive or flammable substances.

特殊電気工事
Electrical work (電気工事) on electric facilities for private use (自家用電気工作物) of a special kind that a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Order (経済産業省令) specifies, in which only a qualified special electrical worker (特種電気工事資格者) holding a certificate for that kind of work may take part, other than tasks that Order exempts as posing no safety problem.
A petition, request for examination, objection or other administrative appeal filed under the old appeal system.
Electric facilities for general use as Article 38, paragraph (1) of the Electricity Business Act defines them: electric facilities (電気工作物) installed on one premises — equipment for using electricity, and small low-voltage generating equipment whose output is below a level a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Order (経済産業省令) sets, each connected to equipment off the premises, if at all, only through a low-voltage incoming line, and equipment that Order treats as like them — other than equipment on the same premises as larger generating equipment, or in a place that Order names as at risk of accidents from explosive or flammable substances.
