Article 92Obligation to Correct Personal Information an Administrative Entity Holds

第九十二条（保有個人情報の訂正義務）

If a request for correction is filed and an administrative organ's head or administrative entity finds that there are grounds for that request for correction, they must correct the personal information the administrative entity holds that is subject to the request for correction within the scope necessary for achieving the purpose of use of that personal information.

行政機関の長等は、訂正請求があった場合において、当該訂正請求に理由があると認めるときは、当該訂正請求に係る保有個人情報の利用目的の達成に必要な範囲内で、当該保有個人情報の訂正をしなければならない。

In Chapters V and VIII, personal information that an employee of an administrative entity (行政機関等) — including, for an incorporated administrative agency or other prescribed corporation (独立行政法人等) or a local incorporated administrative agency (地方独立行政法人), an officer — has prepared or obtained in the course of their duties and that the entity holds for its employees' organizational use, limited to information recorded in administrative or similar documents (行政文書等).

In Chapters V and VI, the head of an administrative organ (行政機関) — or, for an organ that a Cabinet Order (政令) names under Article 2, paragraph (8), item (iv) or (v), the person a Cabinet Order sets for it — an organ of a local government (地方公共団体の機関) other than its assembly, an incorporated administrative agency or other prescribed corporation (独立行政法人等) other than those listed in Appended Table 2 (別表第二), or a local incorporated administrative agency (地方独立行政法人) other than those that Article 2, paragraph (11), item (iv) leaves out.

In Section 4 of Chapter V and Article 127, a request under Article 90, paragraph (1) to an administrative organ's head or administrative entity (行政機関の長等) to correct (including adding to or deleting) personal information about oneself that has been disclosed to one, where one believes its content is untrue.
