If a Japanese national who has nationality in a foreign country has lost nationality in that foreign country, they must submit a notification to that effect within one month from the day on which they came to know of that loss (or if the person was abroad on the day on which they came to know the fact, within three months from that day).
外国の国籍を有する日本人がその外国の国籍を喪失したときは、その者は、その喪失の事実を知つた日から一箇月以内（その者がその事実を知つた日に国外に在るときは、その日から三箇月以内）に、その旨を届け出なければならない。
The written notification must state the cause and date of the loss of foreign nationality, and be accompanied by a document certifying that loss.
