If the death penalty has been enforced, the head of the penal institution must report the death to the mayor of a municipality in the locality of the penal institution without delay.
死刑の執行があつたときは、刑事施設の長は、遅滞なく刑事施設の所在地の市町村長に死亡の報告をしなければならない。
The provisions of the preceding paragraph apply mutatis mutandis to the case in which there is no person who claims the body of a person who has died during their detention at a penal institution. In this case, the written report of death must be accompanied by a medical certificate or autopsy report.
前項の規定は、刑事施設に収容中死亡した者の引取人がない場合にこれを準用する。この場合には、報告書に診断書又は検案書を添付しなければならない。
