A hotelier may, to the extent necessary for preventing the spread of a specified infectious disease in hotel business facilities and only during the period of a domestic outbreak of a specified infectious disease, request from a person seeking to lodge the cooperation specified in each of the following items according to the category of person set forth in that item:
a person exhibiting symptoms of a specified infectious disease or any other person that Cabinet Order prescribes: the following cooperation:
特定感染症の症状を呈している者その他の政令で定める者 次に掲げる協力
if it is not clear whether the person falls under paragraph (1), item (i) of the following Article, reporting to the hotelier, pursuant to Order of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the results of a physician's diagnosis and other matters that Order of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare prescribes as necessary for confirming whether the person falls under that item;
not leaving the guest room or any other place that the hotelier designates in the relevant hotel business facility without good reason, and any other cooperation that Cabinet Order prescribes as necessary for preventing infection with the relevant specified infectious disease in hotel business facilities;
a patient with a specified infectious disease, etc. (meaning a patient with a specified infectious disease (other than a new infectious disease), a person deemed to be a patient with a category 1 infectious disease, category 2 infectious disease, pandemic influenza or similar infectious disease, or designated infectious disease pursuant to the provisions of Article 8 of the Infectious Diseases Control Act (including as applied mutatis mutandis pursuant to a Cabinet Order based on the provisions of Article 44-9, paragraph (1) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act), and a person with findings of a new infectious disease, but excluding a person that Order of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare prescribes as posing almost no risk of spreading a specified infectious disease in hotel business facilities if the person were to lodge in them; the same applies in paragraph (1), item (i) of the following Article): the cooperation set forth in sub-item (b) of the preceding item;
a person other than those set forth in the preceding two items: responding to a request for confirmation of the person's body temperature and other health conditions and other matters that Order of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare prescribes, and any other cooperation that Cabinet Order prescribes as necessary for preventing infection with the relevant specified infectious disease in hotel business facilities.
The period of a domestic outbreak of a specified infectious disease referred to in the preceding paragraph is the period specified in each of the following items according to the category of specified infectious disease set forth in that item (or, for a specified infectious disease that Cabinet Order prescribes as an infectious disease found to be endemic in Japan, the period that Cabinet Order prescribes):
category 1 infectious diseases and category 2 infectious diseases: the period from when a public announcement to the effect that the relevant infectious disease has occurred in Japan is made pursuant to the provisions of Article 16, paragraph (1) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act until a public announcement to the effect that it is no longer occurring in Japan is made pursuant to the provisions of that paragraph;
pandemic influenza or similar infectious diseases and new infectious diseases: the period from when a public announcement to the effect that the relevant infectious disease has occurred in Japan is made pursuant to the provisions of Article 44-2, paragraph (1) or Article 44-10, paragraph (1) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act until a public announcement is made pursuant to the provisions of Article 44-2, paragraph (3) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act or the Cabinet Order referred to in Article 53, paragraph (1) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act is repealed;

designated infectious diseases: the period from when a public announcement to the effect that the relevant infectious disease has occurred in Japan is made pursuant to the provisions of Article 44-7, paragraph (1) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act and the provisions of Article 19 or 20, or Article 44-3, paragraph (2) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act are applied mutatis mutandis to the relevant infectious disease by a Cabinet Order based on the provisions of Article 44-9, paragraph (1) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act, until a public announcement is made pursuant to the provisions of Article 44-7, paragraph (3) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act or the provisions of Articles 19 and 20 and Article 44-3, paragraph (2) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act cease to be applied mutatis mutandis to the relevant infectious disease by a Cabinet Order based on the provisions of Article 44-9, paragraph (1) of the Infectious Diseases Control Act.

When seeking to draft the enactment, amendment, or repeal of the Cabinet Orders referred to in paragraph (1), item (i), sub-item (b) and item (iii), the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare must first hear the opinions of persons with expert knowledge of infectious diseases and persons with expert knowledge and experience concerning services in the hotel business.
