労働者
A person who works under an employer and is paid wages, with no requirement to work at a particular business or office.
使用者に使用されて労働し、賃金を支払われる者
使用者
The person or company that employs a worker and pays the worker wages.

船員
A worker covered by the Mariners Act (船員法), to whom Article 12 and Chapter 4 of this Act, on fixed-term labor contracts (有期労働契約), do not apply, and for whom Article 20, paragraph (2) reads some of this Act's cross-references as provisions of the Mariners Act instead.
This Act as amended by Article 2 of Act No. 56 of 2012.
空白期間
A gap between two fixed-term contracts with the same employer; a long enough gap resets the five-year count toward an open-ended contract.
