Supplementary Provisions, Article 13Transitional Measures Accompanying the Partial Amendment of the Nationality Act
第十三条（国籍法の一部改正に伴う経過措置）
A person who, at the time this Act comes into effect, falls under the requirements prescribed in Article 3, paragraph (1) of the Nationality Act prior to the revision by the preceding Article (excluding the requirement of giving notification to the Minister of Justice), and who is 16 years of age or older, may, notwithstanding Article 3, paragraph (1) of the Nationality Act as revised by the preceding Article (hereinafter referred to in this Article as "the new Nationality Act"), acquire Japanese nationality, only within two years from the effective date, in accordance with the provisions then in force, which continue to govern.
この法律の施行の際に前条の規定による改正前の国籍法第三条第一項に規定する要件（法務大臣に届け出ることを除く。）に該当する者であって十六歳以上のものは、前条の規定による改正後の国籍法（以下この条において「新国籍法」という。）第三条第一項の規定にかかわらず、施行日から二年以内に限り、なお従前の例により日本の国籍を取得することができる。
The provision of Article 14, paragraph (1) of the new Nationality Act applies to a person who becomes a Japanese national having a foreign nationality on or after the effective date, or to a person who is under 20 years of age at the time this Act comes into effect; with respect to the selection of nationality by a Japanese national who has a foreign nationality and is 20 years of age or older at the time this Act comes into effect, the provisions then in force continue to govern.
新国籍法第十四条第一項の規定は、施行日以後に外国の国籍を有する日本国民となった者又はこの法律の施行の際に二十歳未満の者について適用し、この法律の施行の際に外国の国籍を有する日本国民で二十歳以上のものの国籍の選択については、なお従前の例による。
A Japanese national who has a foreign nationality and is 18 years of age or older but under 20 years of age at the time this Act comes into effect is, for the purpose of the application of Article 14, paragraph (1) of the new Nationality Act, deemed to have come to have a foreign nationality and Japanese nationality at the time this Act comes into effect.
この法律の施行の際に外国の国籍を有する日本国民で十八歳以上二十歳未満のものは、新国籍法第十四条第一項の規定の適用については、この法律の施行の時に外国及び日本の国籍を有することとなったものとみなす。
A person who, at the time this Act comes into effect, had lost Japanese nationality under Article 12 of the Nationality Act, and who is 16 years of age or older, may, notwithstanding Article 17, paragraph (1) of the new Nationality Act, acquire Japanese nationality, only within two years from the effective date, in accordance with the provisions then in force, which continue to govern.
この法律の施行の際に国籍法第十二条の規定により日本の国籍を失っていた者で十六歳以上のものは、新国籍法第十七条第一項の規定にかかわらず、施行日から二年以内に限り、なお従前の例により日本の国籍を取得することができる。
