特例法（とくれいほう）

Short name for the Special Act on the Immigration Control of, inter alia, those who have lost Japanese Nationality pursuant to the Treaty of Peace with Japan (Act No. 71 of 1991).

更新期間（こうしんきかん）

The window in which a special permanent resident (特別永住者) must apply to renew the validity period of their special permanent resident certificate (特別永住者証明書): from three months before that period ends until the day it ends.

毀損等の場合（きそんとうのばあい）

When a special permanent resident certificate (特別永住者証明書) has been badly damaged or soiled, or the information recorded electronically on it under Article 8, paragraph (5) has been damaged.

在留カード電磁的記録等（ざいりゅうかーどでんじてききろくとう）

The electronic record on a residence card or on a special permanent resident certificate.

外国人登録証明書（がいこくじんとうろくしょうめいしょ）

An alien registration certificate as provided for in the Alien Registration Act before Article 4 of Act No. 79 of 2009 (入管法等改正法) abolished that Act.
