損失の金額（そんしつのきんがく）

A loss from a disaster, theft or embezzlement to the assets of a resident or of a relative sharing their household budget, including unavoidable related costs and excluding what insurance or damages make good, used in working out the casualty loss deduction.

被侵害者（ひしんがいしゃ）

In Article 5, paragraph (1), a person whose business interests have been infringed by any of the unfair competition (不正競争) listed in Article 2, paragraph (1), items (i) to (xvi) or (xxii).

被災者（ひさいしゃ）

A person whose home, household goods or other property a Cabinet Order (政令) names — theirs or their spouse's or dependents' in the same household — has suffered damage of about half its value or more, not counting what insurance or compensation covers, in an earthquake, storm, flood, fire or similar disaster (Article 36-4).

個人根保証契約（こじんねほしょうけいやく）

A revolving guarantee contract (根保証契約) — a guarantee whose principal obligation is one or more unspecified debts within a certain range — in which the guarantor is not a corporation (法人), that is, is an individual.

関係役務提供者（かんけいえきむていきょうしゃ）

In Article 3, paragraph (1), the specified telecommunications service provider (特定電気通信役務提供者) using the specified telecommunications facilities (特定電気通信設備) used for the specified telecommunications (特定電気通信) through which information infringing another person's rights was circulated.

侵害者（しんがいしゃ）

In Article 5, paragraph (1), a person who, intentionally or negligently, infringed the business interests of the infringed party (被侵害者) through any of the unfair competition (不正競争) listed in Article 2, paragraph (1), items (i) to (xvi) or (xxii).

圧縮限度額（あっしゅくげんどがく）

In Articles 42 to 49, the ceiling, worked out as each paragraph that uses it sets, up to which a domestic corporation may reduce the book value of fixed assets it has acquired or improved with, or received in place of, a government subsidy, a contribution from users of a utility, an assessment on members, or insurance money or compensation for a loss (or set the same amount aside as a reserve), and deduct that amount as an expense.

損害のてん補等（そんがいのてんぽとう）

In Article 82-3, paragraphs (1) and (2), an insurer's or cooperative's indemnity for damage from an accident in the operation of an automobile, its payment of damages under Article 16, paragraph (1), and its provisional payout (仮渡金) under Article 17, paragraph (1) (each including as Article 23-3, paragraph (1) applies it to mutual liability insurance (責任共済)).

登録情報処理機関（とうろくじょうほうしょりきかん）

In Article 9, paragraphs (2) to (4), a vehicle registration agency (登録情報処理機関) as referred to in Article 7, paragraph (4) of the Road Transport Vehicle Act, to which a person may, through the insurer, provide electronically the details to be entered on a certificate of automobile liability insurance.

高齢者医療関係業務（こうれいしゃいりょうかんけいぎょうむ）

The work that a Federation of National Health Insurance Associations (国保連合会) carries out under Article 155: reviewing and paying, on entrustment from Associations of Medical Care Systems for the Elderly Aged 75 and older (後期高齢者医療広域連合), claims for the cost of benefits for medical treatment (療養の給付) and for dietary treatment expenses for inpatients (入院時食事療養費), living support expenses for inpatients (入院時生活療養費), medical expenses combined with treatment outside insurance coverage (保険外併用療養費) and medical expenses for home-nursing (訪問看護療養費), and, to help late-stage elderly medical care (後期高齢者医療) run smoothly, collecting damages from third parties on their entrustment and other projects.

廃炉等実施認定事業者（はいろとうじっしにんていじぎょうしゃ）

In Article 57-4, a business operator certified to carry out decommissioning and related work under Article 55-3(1) of the Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation Act (原子力損害賠償・廃炉等支援機構法).

算定根拠（さんていこんきょ）

The basis on which a business operator (事業者) set the damages, or worked out the penalty, that a contract term makes a consumer pay for cancelling a consumer contract (消費者契約); the business operator must try to explain an outline of it when the consumer asks, and a qualified consumer organization (適格消費者団体) may ask for it under Article 12-4.

旧保険勘定（きゅうほけんかんじょう）

In Article 4 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 83 of 2001, the insurance account (保険勘定) of the former special account for automobile liability reinsurance (自動車損害賠償責任再保険特別会計), set up under the special account act as it stood before Article 2 of that Act amended it (旧特別会計法).

責任保険契約（せきにんほけんけいやく）

In Article 3 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 90 of 1966, a contract of automobile liability insurance (自動車損害賠償責任保険) for a small-sized special purpose vehicle for farm work (農耕作業用小型特殊自動車).

農業協同組合等（のうぎょうきょうどうくみあいとう）

In the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 137 of 1995, an agricultural cooperative (農業協同組合) or federation of agricultural cooperatives (農業協同組合連合会) that carries on a business of mutual liability insurance (責任共済), mutual reinsurance (再共済) or mutual retrocession (再再共済).

新自賠法（しんじばいほう）

This Act as amended by Article 1 of Act No. 83 of 2001.

再共済（さいきょうさい）

Reinsurance by a cooperative of the liability that a cooperative takes on under contracts of mutual liability insurance (責任共済).

改正後の自賠法（かいせいごのじばいほう）

This Act as amended by Act No. 137 of 1995.

再再共済（さいさいきょうさい）

Reinsurance, a second time over, of the liability a cooperative takes on under contracts of mutual reinsurance (再共済) — reinsurance of reinsurance.

新特別会計法（しんとくべつかいけいほう）

In Article 4 of the supplementary provisions (附則) of Act No. 83 of 2001, the Act on the special account for the government's automobile accident compensation program (自動車損害賠償保障事業特別会計法), formerly the Act on the special account for automobile liability reinsurance (自動車損害賠償責任再保険特別会計法), as amended by Article 2 of Act No. 83 of 2001.
