Supplementary Provisions, Article 1Effective Date
第一条（施行期日）
This Act comes into effect on the date specified by Cabinet Order within a period not exceeding six months from the date of promulgation; provided, however, that the provisions set forth in the following items come into effect on the respective dates specified in those items.
この法律は、公布の日から起算して六月を超えない範囲内において政令で定める日から施行する。ただし、次の各号に掲げる規定は、それぞれ当該各号に定める日から施行する。
Articles 2 and 4, and Articles 8 through 10 and Article 23 of the Supplementary Provisions: April 1, 2004.

Supplementary Provisions, Article 8Transitional Measures Concerning Registration of Medical Practitioners Who Have Completed Clinical Training
第八条（臨床研修修了医師の登録に係る経過措置）
A person who currently holds a medical practitioner's license at the time of the enforcement of the provisions set forth in Article 1, item (i) of the Supplementary Provisions, and a person who applied for a medical practitioner's license before the enforcement of those provisions and received the license after their enforcement, are deemed, for the purpose of the application of the Medical Care Act as amended by the provisions of Article 2 and the Medical Practitioners' Act as amended by the provisions of Article 4, to be persons registered under Article 16-4, paragraph (1) of that Act.
附則第一条第一号に掲げる規定の施行の際現に医師免許を受けている者及び当該規定の施行前に医師免許の申請を行った者であって当該規定の施行後に医師免許を受けたものは、第二条の規定による改正後の医療法及び第四条の規定による改正後の医師法の適用については、同法第十六条の四第一項の規定による登録を受けた者とみなす。
Supplementary Provisions, Article 9Transitional Measures Concerning Designated Hospitals
第九条（指定病院に係る経過措置）
A hospital that, at the time of the enforcement of the provisions set forth in Article 1, item (i) of the Supplementary Provisions, is currently designated under Article 16-2, paragraph (1) of the Medical Practitioners' Act before amendment by the provisions of Article 4 is deemed to be a hospital designated under Article 16-2, paragraph (1) of the Medical Practitioners' Act as amended by the provisions of Article 4.
附則第一条第一号に掲げる規定の施行の際現に第四条の規定による改正前の医師法第十六条の二第一項の規定による指定を受けている病院は、第四条の規定による改正後の医師法第十六条の二第一項の規定による指定を受けている病院とみなす。
Supplementary Provisions, Article 14Transitional Measures Concerning Penal Provisions
第十四条（罰則に関する経過措置）
With regard to the application of penal provisions to acts committed before this Act (for the provisions set forth in the items of Article 1 of the Supplementary Provisions, those respective provisions) comes into effect, the provisions then in force continue to govern.
この法律（附則第一条各号に掲げる規定については、当該各規定）の施行前にした行為に対する罰則の適用については、なお従前の例による。
Supplementary Provisions, Article 15Delegation of Other Transitional Measures to Cabinet Order
第十五条（その他の経過措置の政令への委任）
Beyond what is provided for in Article 2 through the preceding Article of the Supplementary Provisions, transitional measures necessary incidental to the enforcement of this Act are specified by Cabinet Order.
附則第二条から前条までに規定するもののほか、この法律の施行に伴い必要な経過措置は、政令で定める。
