Supplementary Provisions, Article 1Effective Date
第一条（施行期日）
This Act comes into effect as of October 1, 2012; provided, however, that the provisions of Article 2 come into effect as of April 1, 2013.
この法律は、平成二十四年十月一日から施行する。ただし、第二条の規定は、平成二十五年四月一日から施行する。
Supplementary Provisions, Article 2Transitional Measures
第二条（経過措置）
The provisions of the Consumer Safety Act after the revision by the provisions of Article 1 also apply to an Actual or Potential Accident Involving Bodily Harm that occurred before this Act comes into effect.
第一条の規定による改正後の消費者安全法の規定は、この法律の施行前に発生した生命身体事故等にも適用する。
Supplementary Provisions, Article 3Review
第三条（検討）
When five years have passed after the enforcement of this Act (for the provisions of Article 2, those provisions; the same applies hereinafter in this Article), the government is to review the status of the enforcement of the provisions of this Act, and take the required measures based on the results of that review, if it finds this necessary.
政府は、この法律（第二条の規定については、当該規定。以下この条において同じ。）の施行後五年を経過した場合において、この法律の規定の施行の状況について検討を加え、必要があると認めるときは、その結果に基づいて所要の措置を講ずるものとする。
Actual or Potential Accident Involving Bodily Harm
「生命身体事故等」
An accident in which a consumer suffers harm to life or body to the degree a Cabinet Order (政令) sets, or a situation likely to cause such an accident, as listed in Article 2, paragraph (5), items (i) and (ii).
