A mid- to long-term resident who is residing in Japan at the time this Act comes into effect and who has not filed an application pursuant to the provisions of Article 3, paragraph (1) of the Former Alien Registration Act must, within 14 days from the date on which they were issued a residence card pursuant to the provisions of Article 16, paragraph (3) of the Supplementary Provisions (or, if they have no place of residence on that date, the date on which they subsequently settle on a place of residence), notify the Minister of Justice of their place of residence through the mayor of the municipality of the place of residence upon submitting their residence card to the mayor of the municipality of the place of residence, in accordance with the procedures provided for by Ministry of Justice Order.
