Japanese legal terms explainedLaws and how to read them
Former name
旧題名
The title (題名) a law had before an amending Act renamed it. A renamed law is the same law, with the same law number: what changes is what it is called. Other laws, official guidance and people who dealt with it before often still use the old name, or its short name.
