Article 18Types of Insurance Benefits

第十八条（保険給付の種類）

Insurance benefits provided by this Act shall be the following insurance benefits:

この法律による保険給付は、次に掲げる保険給付とする。

insurance benefits pertaining to the Condition of Need for Long-Term Care of an Insured Person (hereinafter referred to as "Long-Term Care Benefit");

被保険者の要介護状態に関する保険給付（以下「介護給付」という。）

insurance benefits pertaining to the Needed Support Condition of an Insured Person (herein referred to as "Prevention Benefit");

被保険者の要支援状態に関する保険給付（以下「予防給付」という。）

in addition to what is listed in the preceding two items, insurance benefits specified by a Prefectural or Municipal Ordinance as insurance benefits that contribute to the reduction or prevention of deterioration of a Condition of Need for Long-Term Care, etc. (hereinafter referred to as "Municipal Special Benefit" in Section V).

前二号に掲げるもののほか、要介護状態等の軽減又は悪化の防止に資する保険給付として条例で定めるもの（第五節において「市町村特別給付」という。）

An insured person's condition of need for long-term care (要介護状態) or condition needing support (要支援状態).

Condition of Need for Long-Term Care
要介護状態（ようかいごじょうたい）
A condition, expected to last continuously over a period a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Order (厚生労働省令) sets, in which a person needs constant care with all or some of the basic actions of daily life such as bathing, toileting and eating because of a physical or mental disability, and which falls in one of the categories by degree of need for care that Order sets (要介護状態区分), other than a condition needing support (要支援状態).
身体上又は精神上の障害があるために、入浴、排せつ、食事等の日常生活における基本的な動作の全部又は一部について、厚生労働省令で定める期間にわたり継続して、常時介護を要すると見込まれる状態であって、その介護の必要の程度に応じて厚生労働省令で定める区分（以下「要介護状態区分」という。）のいずれかに該当するもの（要支援状態に該当するものを除く。）

Needed Support Condition
要支援状態（ようしえんじょうたい）
A condition in which a person, because of a physical or mental disability, is expected, continuously over a period a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Order (厚生労働省令) sets, to need support that particularly helps ease, or keep from worsening, a state of needing constant care with all or some of the basic actions of daily life such as bathing, toileting and eating, or to have difficulty carrying on daily life, and which falls in one of the categories by degree of need for support that Order sets (要支援状態区分).
身体上若しくは精神上の障害があるために入浴、排せつ、食事等の日常生活における基本的な動作の全部若しくは一部について厚生労働省令で定める期間にわたり継続して常時介護を要する状態の軽減若しくは悪化の防止に特に資する支援を要すると見込まれ、又は身体上若しくは精神上の障害があるために厚生労働省令で定める期間にわたり継続して日常生活を営むのに支障があると見込まれる状態であって、支援の必要の程度に応じて厚生労働省令で定める区分（以下「要支援状態区分」という。）のいずれかに該当するもの
