Universities with a graduate school, as a rule, are to have academic units; provided, however, that there may be organizations other than graduate programs which will form the basis of education and research, as provided for by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, if it is beneficial and appropriate in order to achieve the education and research purposes of the relevant universities.
大学院を置く大学には、研究科を置くことを常例とする。ただし、当該大学の教育研究上の目的を達成するため有益かつ適切である場合においては、文部科学大臣の定めるところにより、研究科以外の教育研究上の基本となる組織を置くことができる。
