Supplementary Provisions, Article 5Transitional Measures for Mid- to Long-term Residents Who Have Filed a Notification Under Article 19-9, Paragraph (1) of the Act by Submitting a Registration Certificate
第五条（登録証明書を提出して法第十九条の九第一項の届出をした中長期在留者に係る経過措置）
With respect to the application of Article 2 where a mid- to long-term resident files a notification pursuant to the provisions of Article 19-9, paragraph (1) of the Act by submitting an alien registration certificate prescribed in the Alien Registration Act (Act No. 125 of 1952) prior to its repeal under Article 4 of the Amending Act that is deemed to be a residence card pursuant to Article 15, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions of the Amending Act (hereinafter referred to as the "registration certificate"), the phrase "the number of the residence card" in item (ii) of that Article is deemed to be replaced with "the registration number of the alien registration certificate prescribed in the Alien Registration Act (Act No. 125 of 1952) prior to its repeal under Article 4 of the Act Partially Amending the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act and the Special Act on the Immigration Control of, inter alia, those who have lost Japanese Nationality pursuant to the Treaty of Peace with Japan, and Other Matters (Act No. 79 of 2009)".
中長期在留者が、改正法附則第十五条第一項の規定により在留カードとみなされる改正法第四条の規定による廃止前の外国人登録法（昭和二十七年法律第百二十五号）に規定する外国人登録証明書（以下「登録証明書」という。）を提出して法第十九条の九第一項の規定による届出をした場合における第二条の規定の適用については、同条第二号中「在留カードの番号」とあるのは、「出入国管理及び難民認定法及び日本国との平和条約に基づき日本の国籍を離脱した者等の出入国管理に関する特例法の一部を改正する等の法律（平成二十一年法律第七十九号）第四条の規定による廃止前の外国人登録法（昭和二十七年法律第百二十五号）に規定する外国人登録証明書の登録番号」とする。
