第二十二条（特別永住者証明書の有効期間に関する経過措置）
With regard to the period of validity of a special permanent resident certificate issued before the Item (i) Effective Date (meaning the special permanent resident certificate prescribed in Article 7, paragraph (1) of the Special Act; the same applies hereinafter in this Article) and the renewal thereof, the provisions then in force continue to govern.
第一号施行日前に交付された特別永住者証明書（特例法第七条第一項に規定する特別永住者証明書をいう。以下この条において同じ。）の有効期間及びその更新については、なお従前の例による。
In the case of filing an application for renewal of the period of validity of a special permanent resident certificate pursuant to the provisions of Article 12, paragraph (1) of the Special Act prior to its amendment by the provisions of Article 3, for which the provisions then in force continue to govern pursuant to the provisions of the preceding paragraph, with regard to the application of the provisions of Article 19, paragraph (2) of the Special Act as amended by the provisions of Article 3, a special permanent resident who has been issued that special permanent resident certificate is deemed to be a person who has not reached 16 years of age even where the date of the application is the special permanent resident's 16th birthday (where the birthday of that special permanent resident is February 29, the birthday of that special permanent resident in a year that is not a leap year is deemed to be February 28).
前項の規定によりなお従前の例によることとされた第三条の規定による改正前の特例法第十二条第一項の規定により特別永住者証明書の有効期間の更新の申請をする場合における第三条の規定による改正後の特例法第十九条第二項の規定の適用については、当該特別永住者証明書の交付を受けた特別永住者は、その申請の日が十六歳の誕生日（当該特別永住者の誕生日が二月二十九日であるときは、当該特別永住者のうるう年以外の年における誕生日は二月二十八日であるものとみなす。）である場合においても、十六歳に満たない者とみなす。
With regard to the application of the provisions of the preceding paragraph during the period from the Item (i) Effective Date through the day before the Effective Date, the phrase "Article 19, paragraph (2) of the Special Act as amended by the provisions of Article 3" in that paragraph is deemed to be replaced with "Article 19, paragraph (2) of the Special Act".
第一号施行日から施行日の前日までの間における前項の規定の適用については、同項中「第三条の規定による改正後の特例法第十九条第二項」とあるのは、「特例法第十九条第二項」とする。
The provisions of the preceding three paragraphs also apply to an application for renewal of the period of validity of a registration certificate that is deemed to be a special permanent resident certificate pursuant to the provisions of Article 28, paragraph (1) of the Supplementary Provisions of the Act Partially Amending the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act and the Special Act on the Immigration Control of, inter alia, those who have lost Japanese Nationality pursuant to the Treaty of Peace with Japan, and Other Matters (Act No. 79 of 2009), and whose period of validity is, pursuant to the provisions of paragraph (2) of that Article (limited to the part pertaining to item (i)), the period until the 16th birthday of the special permanent resident who possesses that registration certificate has elapsed.
前三項の規定は、出入国管理及び難民認定法及び日本国との平和条約に基づき日本の国籍を離脱した者等の出入国管理に関する特例法の一部を改正する等の法律（平成二十一年法律第七十九号）附則第二十八条第一項の規定により特別永住者証明書とみなされる登録証明書であって同条第二項（第一号に係る部分に限る。）の規定によりその有効期間が当該登録証明書を所持する特別永住者の十六歳の誕生日が経過するまでの期間とされているものの有効期間の更新の申請についても、適用する。
