Supplementary Provisions, Article 14

In the case where a person who, on the day before the Effective Date, has actually established a hospital or clinic and uses in the name of that hospital or clinic the words hospital, hospital branch, maternity home, sanatorium, clinic, examination room, medical office or other words similar to these (hereinafter in this Article referred to as "words similar to hospital, etc.") abolishes that hospital or clinic and establishes an integrated facility for medical and long-term care prescribed in Article 8, paragraph (29) of the New Long-Term Care Insurance Act (hereinafter referred to as an "integrated facility for medical and long-term care"), or reduces the number of beds of that hospital or clinic and establishes an integrated facility for medical and long-term care, for as long as that integrated facility for medical and long-term care meets the requirements specified by Order of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, such as using the words integrated facility for medical and long-term care in its name, the person may, notwithstanding Article 3, paragraph (1) of the Medical Care Act, continue to use words similar to hospital, etc. in the name of that integrated facility for medical and long-term care (limited to those that were used in the name of that hospital or clinic when that hospital or clinic was abolished or when the number of its beds was reduced).
