第五項
A person who is residing at the time this Act comes into effect with the status of residence in the left-hand column of Appended Table I (5) of the Former Immigration Control Act as a person engaging in any of the activities set forth in the following items among the activities set forth in the right-hand column of the same Table (limited to the part pertaining to (d)), and who continues to reside in Japan thereafter, may, notwithstanding the provisions of Article 20-2, paragraph (1) of the New Immigration Control Act (limited to the part pertaining to item (i)), be granted a change to the status of residence of "Highly Skilled Professional" (limited to that pertaining to item (ii) of the right-hand column under "Highly Skilled Professional" in Appended Table I (2) of the New Immigration Control Act). In this case, the phrase "activities set forth in the preceding item" in item (ii) of the right-hand column under "Highly Skilled Professional" in Appended Table I (2) of the New Immigration Control Act is deemed to be replaced with "activities set forth in the items of Article 3, paragraph (5) of the Supplementary Provisions of the Act Partially Amending the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act (Act No. 74 of 2014)".
この法律の施行の際現に旧入管法別表第一の五の表の下欄（ニに係る部分に限る。）に掲げる活動のうち次の各号に掲げるものを行う者としての同表の上欄の在留資格をもって在留する者であってその後引き続き本邦に在留するものは、新入管法第二十条の二第一項（第一号に係る部分に限る。）の規定にかかわらず、高度専門職の在留資格（新入管法別表第一の二の表の高度専門職の項の下欄第二号に係るものに限る。）への変更を受けることができる。この場合において、新入管法別表第一の二の表の高度専門職の項の下欄第二号中「前号に掲げる活動」とあるのは、「出入国管理及び難民認定法の一部を改正する法律（平成二十六年法律第七十四号）附則第三条第五項各号に掲げる活動」とする。
activities of engaging in research, research guidance or education based on a contract with a public or private organization in Japan, or activities of engaging in those activities while also personally operating a business related to those activities or engaging in research, research guidance or education based on a contract with a public or private organization in Japan other than that organization;
本邦の公私の機関との契約に基づいて研究、研究の指導若しくは教育をする活動又は当該活動と併せて当該活動と関連する事業を自ら経営し若しくは当該機関以外の本邦の公私の機関との契約に基づいて研究、研究の指導若しくは教育をする活動
activities of engaging in work requiring knowledge or skills in the field of natural sciences or humanities based on a contract with a public or private organization in Japan, or activities of engaging in those activities while also personally operating a business related to those activities;
本邦の公私の機関との契約に基づいて自然科学若しくは人文科学の分野に属する知識若しくは技術を要する業務に従事する活動又は当該活動と併せて当該活動と関連する事業を自ら経営する活動
activities of engaging in the operation or management of a for-profit corporation in Japan or of an office in Japan for conducting legal or accounting work that is to be conducted by a person with a legal qualification, or activities of engaging in those activities while also personally operating a business related to those activities.
本邦の営利を目的とする法人若しくは法律上資格を有する者が行うこととされている法律若しくは会計に係る業務を行うための事務所の経営若しくは管理に従事する活動又は当該活動と併せて当該活動と関連する事業を自ら経営する活動
