Specialized training colleges (limited to those having post-secondary courses (referred to as "specified post-secondary courses" in this Chapter) that have a course term of two years or more and meet the other standards specified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) may have diploma courses.
専修学校（修業年限が二年以上であることその他の文部科学大臣の定める基準を満たす専門課程（以下この章において「特定専門課程」という。）を置くものに限る。）には、専攻科を置くことができる。
Diploma courses of specialized training colleges are to have the purpose of teaching specialized matters, to a deep and detailed extent, as well as instructing research, to persons who have completed a specified post-secondary course of a specialized training college, or persons deemed to have the equivalent or greater scholastic ability as provided for by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and the course term is to be one year or more.
専修学校の専攻科は、専修学校の特定専門課程を修了した者又は文部科学大臣の定めるところによりこれと同等以上の学力があると認められた者に対して、精深な程度において、特別の事項を教授し、その研究を指導することを目的とし、その修業年限は、一年以上とする。
